Dr. Amy Simmons PT, DPT, MS, AIB-VRC

(Physical Therapist, Multi-Site Director)

A Rhode Island native, Amy earned her Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Simmons College in 2008.
 She received a Master of Science in Physical Therapy in 2005 and a Bachelor of Science in Physical
Education/Health in 2001, both from the University of Rhode Island. She has almost 18 years of
experience as a treating clinician, in program development and clinical management, serving as a VP of
Operations as well as Director of Development for a RI Private Practice.


Amy has worked with patients ranging from the preadolescent level through the elderly and particularly
enjoys the treatment of sports related injuries and post-surgical athletes. She has served as a guest
lecturer for the CCRI PTA Department, works with area sports teams in the development of preseason
and in season conditioning and warm-up programs and developed and administered a local preseason
strength and conditioning camp for East Bay area middle and high school students. Amy routinely
serves on the medical staff of the Boston Marathon and has also worked with the medical team of the
Marine Corps Marathon and the Cape Cod Marathon.


Amy’s focus in continuing education has been in the application of Applied Functional Science through
the Gray Institute as well as in concussion management/management of vestibular disorders. She is
certified by the American Institute of Balance in Vestibular Rehabilitation as well as in Concussion
Rehabilitation. She holds an additional certification in concussion management (ITPT) through ImPACT
Applications in Concussion Care and Treatment.


Amy is pleased to join the Connections Team at the first Rhode Island location and looks forward to
serving the Newport County and East Bay Communities.
